In this study, pathological and bacteriological examination of pneumonia in Goats slaughtered in Bitlis slaughterhouse were carried out. For this purpose, a total of 1505 lungs were examined and in 74 (4.91%) lungs pneumonia was detected. Histopathologically, pneumonias were classified as follows; verminous pneumonia (43,2%), fibrinous bronchopneumonia (23%), interstitial pneumonia (17,6%) and catarrhal-purulerit bronchopneumonia (16,2%). Bacteriological examinations were performed on forty-two pneumonic lungs (except the verminous pneumonia) and various bacterial agents as pure or mix culture were isolated from 32 (76.2%) cases. These were Pasteurella ha-emotytica (38.09 %). Mycoplasma spp. (28.57%), Staphylococcus aureus (16.66%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (11.90%), Moraxella spp. (4.76%), Bacillus spp. (4.76%) and Pasteurella multocida (2.38%). In conclusion, the most common type of pneumonia found in Bitlis region was verminous pneumonia, and bacterial examinations showed Pasteurella haemolytica and Mycoplasma spp. were the most important causal agents in caprine pneumonia.
