The aim of this study was to examine the prenatal development o! rabbit kidneys. In Ihe study, 20 of rabbit leiuses were used. The teiuses Irom 19, 23, 27, 29 Ih days of prenatal period were divided into four groups. Kidney development slarted with the existence ol tubuii and glomeruli under Iha capsula The tubuli occupaled larger area more than connective lissue. At Ihis period, ducts were seen in the medulla near (he pelvis. The numbers of tubuli increased in the 23 Ih day of fetal period. Many vacuoles were observed in the cells localized in the tubular wall. The remaining cells in the pelvic epithelium were columnar in shape, A tew tubuli and ascendent and descendent parts of Henle's loop were lound in the medulla. The number of medullar tubuli increased in the 29 th day of ihe fetal period. At this period, renal cortex was heavily populated with the tubuli and glomeruli.
